ROCKWALL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT HOSTS RIBBON CUTTING FOR PHASE III
EXPANSION OF THE ROCKWALL TECHNOLOGY PARK

ROCKWALL, Texas – The Rockwall Economic Development Corporation (REDC) hosted a ceremonial ribbon cutting for the third phase of the Rockwall Technology Park on December 1. Approximately 130 individuals representing area businesses, the Chamber of Commerce, local governments, educational partners, contractors, utilities, neighboring residents and current and former REDC Board members attended the event.

The Phase III project adds 210 acres of “shovel ready” property to the Rockwall Technology Park. Over the past year and a half, REDC contractors have been preparing the site by extending or renovating Discovery Boulevard, Springer and Rochell roads, as well as adding water, sewer, and stormwater utilities, establishing a regional detention pond, and burying telecommunication lines and other franchise utilities.

“All of this work is designed to make our greenfield property as attractive as possible for new, light industrial projects that can help grow our community tax base,” said Phil Wagner, President of the REDC. “With all of the infrastructure now in place, we can tell companies that we have sites in Rockwall that can be quickly developed for vertical construction, the opening of a facility, and ultimately, the manufacturing of a product.”

Wagner, Rockwall Mayor Trace Johannesen, and REDC Chairman Eric Burress spoke at the event. Burress highlighted how the Technology Park was already an economic driver for the community, with Phase I and Phase II providing a home to 22 employers, nearly 3,000 full-time jobs and approximately $400 million in annual taxable value that generates more than $6M in annual tax revenue for the City, County, and local school district.

“No doubt it is a great time to be in Rockwall, specifically at the Rockwall Technology Park, “said Burress. “We look forward to growing the list of companies and industries served with the addition of the Phase III development.”

The Rockwall Technology Park is generally located south of Interstate 30, north of State Highway 276 and now encompasses 550 acres of land between John King Blvd and Rochell Rd. The Phase III expansion includes property east of Data Drive, west of Rochell Rd, north of SH276 and south of the Carrington Farms subdivision in the City of Fate.
Freese & Nichols has served as the civil engineering design firm and construction manager for the project. Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating is the general contractor.
