Matt Wavering
Matt has served the Rockwall EDC since April of 2017 initially as Director of Project Development and subsequently as Vice President. After a brief stint as the Director of Economic Development for the City of Fate, Texas, he returned to the Rockwall EDC and was named President of the organization in January 2026. Matt brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in leadership, business development, commercial real estate, asset management, and economic development. He’s responsible for executing the mission of the REDC under the direction of the Board of Directors
Matt was responsible for several strategic land acquisitions and managing infrastructure projects for the REDC, as well as attracting and assisting with the expansion of numerous primary employers in Rockwall. His career includes over a decade in commercial real estate brokerage and management, plus experience serving on the board of directors for the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Texas real estate license.
Matt relocated to North Texas in 2014 and currently resides in Rockwall County with his wife Katie and their children Bella and Charlie. Matt volunteered as a member of the Community Steering Committee to assist in the creation of the Rockwall County Strategic Plan and is currently an ex-officio Director of the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce.
